Over the past week, development across Depths of Erendorn has continued to build momentum as the team delivered progress spanning character creation, world-building, player progression, and core gameplay systems. Visual development advanced with major milestones for creature assets and settlement content, while new modular environment tools expanded the flexibility of world construction. At the same time, both the client and server teams concentrated on preparing the game for the next alpha, introducing new class abilities, refining progression systems, enhancing multiplayer functionality, and improving the reliability of core gameplay features. 3D Modelling

The 3D Modelling team reached another milestone in the redevelopment of the Vaznarite, completing the creature's texturing phase and implementing its dynamic lava flow shader within the game engine. By combining carefully painted lava channels with animated shader effects, the creature now conveys the appearance of molten rock flowing beneath its surface, adding greater visual depth and reinforcing its volcanic identity. With the Vaznarite progressing towards completion, the team has now shifted focus to a new character, beginning work on the Tavern Master by developing the base body and facial features that will form the foundation of this important settlement NPC.

Set Piece Design

Over the past week, the Set Piece Design team continued expanding the game's modular environment toolkit, completing the city wall bridge set to further enhance the construction and variety of fortified settlements. This new addition provides greater flexibility when creating connected defensive structures while supporting more cohesive and believable city layouts. Alongside this, the team refined the custom blueprint tool used for city wall segments, improving the workflow for placing and assembling these modular assets throughout the world. Together, these updates strengthen both the efficiency of environment creation and the visual consistency of fortified locations across Depths of Erendorn.

Client

Throughout the past week, the Client team focused on preparing the game for the next alpha by integrating the new level three class abilities and refining the player progression experience. A significant portion of the work involved creating the client-side blueprints for the new abilities, importing their descriptions, and ensuring they function and display correctly throughout the level-up interface. The team also resolved an issue that prevented players from levelling up after selecting multiple abilities on the level-up screen, improving the reliability of the progression system. Alongside these additions, continued testing confirmed that the majority of the newly implemented abilities are performing as expected, while remaining abilities continue through the final stages of integration and validation. These updates help ensure the next wave of class abilities is both functional and intuitive as Depths of Erendorn moves closer to its next alpha milestone.

Server

The Server team continued expanding core gameplay systems while delivering significant improvements to progression, multiplayer functionality, and backend stability. Dungeon rewards were overhauled with the introduction of a per-corpse loot system, ensuring defeated enemies now generate their own individual loot containers while also adding configurable loot chance modifiers to provide greater flexibility when balancing encounters. The team also introduced a new in-game voting system, enabling timed ballots for group decisions, alongside enhancements to party travel, late-join functionality, and session synchronisation to create a smoother multiplayer experience. Inventory and equipment systems received a substantial rework, improving how items and consumables are stored, equipped, and persisted while introducing overflow-to-stash functionality to prevent items being lost when inventories are full. Combat systems continued to benefit from reliability and performance improvements through refined combat log handling, faster encounter initiation, and more stable enemy versus enemy behaviour, while chat functionality was expanded with increased proximity range and improved session messaging. Alongside these gameplay features, the team further enhanced the ability editor with new authoring tools and continued refining core infrastructure, world data, and service reliability, strengthening the technical foundation of Depths of Erendorn ahead of future testing milestones.
