This week has brought continued progress across multiple areas of Depths of Erendorn, with the team advancing character development, world-building, gameplay systems, and technical improvements across the project. From expanding settlement details and completing key character assets to strengthening combat features, crafting systems, and large-scale environment optimisation, development has remained focused on improving both the player experience and the foundations that support future growth. These combined efforts continue to push the game closer towards upcoming testing milestones while expanding the depth, quality, and consistency of the world. As always, join us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit for daily updates on Depths of Erendorn. Alternatively, join our Discord for all the latest! - now let’s get into it!
3D Modelling
Over the past week, the 3D Modelling team has completed the sculpting phase of the Tavern Master, marking an important milestone in the creation of one of Depths of Erendorn's key settlement characters. Final refinement focused on adding extra detail to the character's belt and accessories, equipping the Tavern Master with the practical tools expected of their profession, including a tankard, keychain, dish rag, and coin pouch. These additions help reinforce the character's role within the world while enhancing the overall authenticity and visual storytelling of the design. With the high-resolution sculpt now complete, the Tavern Master is well positioned to progress into the next stages of the production pipeline as development continues.

Set Piece Design
Over the past week, the Set Piece Design team has continued expanding the world's environmental systems while refining key locations across Depths of Erendorn. The team implemented new city wall segments using the recently developed wall placement tool, streamlining the construction of fortified settlements and improving consistency throughout defensive structures. A new blueprint was also created for city wall entrances, featuring an exposed gate opening parameter that provides greater flexibility when designing settlement layouts. Alongside this, the team developed an updated boat animation shader that produces more realistic motion on the water, enhancing the visual authenticity of harbours and waterfront areas. Work has also continued on the set dressing of the game's outposts, with additional environmental details and props helping these locations feel more believable and naturally integrated into the surrounding world.

Programming
Client
Throughout the past week, the Client team has continued supporting the implementation of the remaining level three abilities, with a strong focus on testing, validation, and client-side integration. Extensive checks have been carried out to ensure each ability is configured correctly and functions as intended, helping to identify and resolve issues before future testing phases. With the majority of implementation work now complete, attention is beginning to shift towards the supporting systems that accompany these abilities, including gameplay events and player notifications, ensuring they trigger correctly and provide clear, consistent feedback during combat. These ongoing refinements help deliver a more reliable and polished gameplay experience as the expanded ability roster moves closer to completion.
Server
Over the past week, the Server team has delivered significant progress across crafting, progression, combat stability, and backend systems, introducing one of the largest new gameplay features currently in development for Depths of Erendorn. A comprehensive item crafting system has been implemented, allowing players to reforge, empower, and salvage equipment through a dedicated blacksmith workflow, complete with configurable costs, improved stat handling, and enhanced crafting feedback. Alongside this, achievement tracking has been expanded through a new metrics-driven system that records player progression, combat participation, and milestone completion, while item generation has been further refined with improved rarity calculations, stat balancing, and more descriptive item naming.
The team also continued tuning progression by rebalancing experience distribution, loot generation, and enemy scaling, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience across different regions. In parallel, major stability improvements were made to combat and server infrastructure through movement synchronisation refinements, deadlock prevention, and enhanced session monitoring, reducing the likelihood of stalled encounters and improving overall reliability. Supporting these gameplay additions, further updates to world navigation, settlement functionality, account management, and internal development tools continue to provide a stronger foundation for future testing and content creation.
Environment Art
Throughout the past week, the Environment team has delivered a major optimisation and visual overhaul across the world of Depths of Erendorn, significantly improving both performance and environmental quality. Extensive profiling and rendering improvements have nearly tripled GPU performance without compromising visual fidelity, with optimisations spanning upscaling configuration, animation update systems, lighting, shadow quality, and rendering workflows. Additional improvements to virtual texturing have reduced texture streaming overhead while allowing higher quality landscape materials where they provide the greatest visual benefit. Alongside these technical enhancements, the team completely rebuilt the landscape material system, resolving long-standing terrain blending issues and introducing more advanced procedural layering for grass, cliffs, sand, mud, and snow.
Shorelines have also been reworked with improved beach blending, wet sand transitions, and new coastal dressing such as rocks and pebbles, while stochastic texture variation, macro colour blending, refined road integration, and enhanced surface detail help create more natural environments across every biome. Together, these updates provide a stronger visual foundation for the world while delivering substantial performance gains that support future development and a smoother gameplay experience across a wide range of hardware.
